To us, there’s nothing like a home during the holidays. The warmth of the Christmas lights, joy of being surrounded by family, and the sense of magic that Christmas decorations bring to the home. Here’s a few of our favorite tips for bringing the holiday spirit indoors.

Color Scheme:

Choosing an overall theme is a great way to ensure your decorations tie in throughout your home. It doesn’t have to be strict, but a color scheme is a great start. Some of our favorites are classic Christmas (red and green), warm neutrals, and winter wonderland (slivers, white, and blues).

Deck the Living Room with Festive Touches:

Cozy Textiles: Swap out everyday throw pillows and blankets for warm, holiday-inspired options. Chunky knits, velvet, and faux fur in seasonal colors can instantly create a snug feel.

Mantel Magic: Mantel decor can be daunting. We often find that simple is better. Your stockings, garland, and some decor to add height is the perfect recipe. A mix of greenery and gold accents can add elegance, while playful touches like hanging small ornaments can make it feel personalized. Adding some candle sticks or trees adds height to your design.

Incorporate Natural Elements:

Natural touches, like fresh pine branches, eucalyptus, and holly, bring life and an authentic, seasonal feel to any space. These elements can be arranged in vases or incorporated into table scapes, mantels, or wreaths. Plus, they add a lovely holiday aroma to the home. Bringing the outside in is one of our favorite ways to decorate!

Lighting + Scent:

Lighting can drastically change the way a room feels. Dimming those overhead lights and bringing in candles and warm lighting will make it feel instantly more cozy. Christmas scented candles or diffusers are also a great way to feel the holiday spirit. Some common scents are pine, cinnamon, and peppermint.
